CATALYST FOR CO OXIDATION AND METHOD FOR CO OXIDATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for CO oxidation that can suppress the material cost without need of using any noble metal material and can be used at a higher temperature as compared with the conventional catalyst for CO oxidation and to provide a method for CO oxidation.SOLUTION: The catalyst for CO oxidation comprises as the main component a perovskite type complex oxide including an alkali earth metal and a transition metal and the transition metal constituting the perovskite type complex oxide includes a first transition metal and a second transition metal substituting a part of the first transition metal. The perovskite type complex oxide is BaZrOor SrZrO. The second transition metal is at least one kind selected from the group consisting of Co, Mn and Ni. Only CO is selectively oxidized using the catalyst for CO oxidation at a temperature range where other coexisting gases cause no oxidation.
