<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a punching die which can minimize damage to an inorganic fiber assembly to be subjected to punching and facilitates the release of the inorganic fiber assembly; and to provide a method for manufacturing a mat by using the punching die.SOLUTION: A punching die includes a base plate and a Thomson blade provided on the base plate, and is used for punching a mat having a prescribed shape out of a sheet-like inorganic fiber assembly in a thickness direction. The base plate includes a first principal surface and a second principal surface which is a principal surface opposite to the first principal surface. The Thomson blade is provided so as to be protruded from the second principal surface. The base plate includes a through-hole formed so as to allow the mat punched out by using the Thomson blade to pass therethrough.</p> |
