The present invention relates to a method for generating PMI from a lightweight model and, more specifically, to a method for generating PMI from a lightweight model, which is capable of generating a lightweight model using data on a 3D model designed by using CAD, generating PMI based on data on the lightweight model, and generating and outputting a lightweight model file including the generated PMI. To achieve this, the method for generating PMI from a lightweight model comprises: a lightweight model generating step of generating a lightweight model by using CAD data; a PMI calculating step of calculating production information and dimension information of the lightweight model generated in the lightweight model generating step using the CAD data and the lightweight model; a PMI generating step of generating the production information and the dimension information calculated in the PMI calculating step to the lightweight model; a file generating step of generating a lightweight model file including the PMI data after the PMI generating step; and an output step of outputting the lightweight model file generated in the file generating step.
