PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical adapter and optical receptacle connector that allow an optical plug connector to be easily removed from the optical adapter by fingers even when the optical adapter and the like are laterally arranged in the center of a substrate.SOLUTION: The optical adapter 400 is to be connected to an optical plug connector formed of a plug housing 300 and a cable holding body. The bottom wall of the optical adapter 400 is extended in the optical fiber cable extension direction so that, when the optical plug connector is removed, the bottom wall of the optical plug connector can slide on the bottom wall of the optical adapter 400.
