A fire safety valve for oil burners comprises a spring-biased valve 5, the spindle 9 of which is connected to a fusible link 18 through the inner wire 12 of a Bowden cable 11 which is so tensioned as to keep the valve open against the spring-bias until the fusible link melts, the sheathing 13 of the cable being connected at one end 14 with the valve housing 8 and at the opposite end with a bushing 16 from which projects a screw threaded rod 9 attached to the end of the wire 12, the fusible link 18 being formed as a nut which threadedly engages the rod 9 and abuts against the end of the bushing 16 to maintain the spring-bias. The link 18 may consist of a tubular jacket 19 and a core 20 of metal alloy which has been formed by melting on to the rod. The valve head 5 is provided with a cup-shaped, flexible or rubber member 6.</p> |
