1,140,123. Vegetable extracts. SOC. BISCUITS BRUN. 24 March, 1966 [25 March, 1965], No. 13112/66. Heading A2B. A pulp formed from finely ground vegetable tissues is treated, preferably at pH 6-7, with pectinolytic enzymes obtained by maceration of said tissues, converting the so-formed paste into an aerosol which is dried by contact with heated air, and separating the fines, which contain the desired nutritive substances, from the coarser particles, which contain the cellulose residues. The pulp may be prepared using water, skim milk, whole milk, or whey. The maceration is preferably effected in water or an isotonic solution containing sodium chloride. The example employs cereal bran. |
