<p>The device comprises a target (7) placed in a bore (5) after removal from a cutter of a grinder, a rod comprising two pins (8) projecting axially on each of opposite sides of the target, and a template comprising a unit for locking a support (6) of a cutter relative to a fixed part (11) of the grinder. A distance between the respective vertices of the two pins corresponds to the distance between two welding tips. The target comprises a cylindrical body whose diameter corresponds to bore diameter of the support. The locking unit comprises a cooperating unit including two notches formed on edges of the template, and is adapted to be engageable respectively on the portion fixed relative to the support and the portion fixed relative to the grinder.
