The retention insert (1) has a circular disk-shaped end side and an annular retention edge (11) with an outer surface (114), where the retention edge protrudes from the end side. The end side and the retention edge form a receptacle with an inner surface (112) which corresponds to an outer surface of the head of the dental implant. The end side has an opening and an axial slot (14) extends from an end of the retention edge through the retention edge and the end side to the opening of the end side.
