A coating is described. The coating includes a metal oxide layer, which in turn includes a surface having a water contact angle greater than 90 degrees. A metal-oxide coating composition is also described. The composition includes effective amounts of a first type and a second of metals and an effective amount of oxygen to react with the first type and the second type of metals to produce a first type and a second type of metal oxides, both of which produce a structure that is greater than about 50% (by volume) amorphous. |
