<p>An aircraft occupant support substantially faces a longitudinal axis the aircraft and has upper and lower staggered tiers, thereby elevating some of said occupants and accordingly raising the central mass of the structure. The structure has at least one unit with an upper occupant support in the upper tier and a lower occupant support in the lower tier, wherein each of the occupant supports has at least a sitting position and a flat bed position, and wherein the flat bed positions of the upper and lower occupant supports are substantially vertically stacked. The structure is enabled to withstand crash loading conditions with load limiting latch arrangements at the floor of the aircraft.</p>
