A circuit for a semiconductor switching element including a transformer. One embodiment provides a first voltage supply circuit having a first oscillator. A first transformer is connected downstream of the first oscillator. A first accumulation circuit for providing a first supply voltage is connected downstream of the first transformer. A driver circuit having input terminals for feeding in the first supply voltage and having output terminals for providing a drive voltage for the semiconductor switching element, designed to generate the drive voltage for the semiconductor switching element at least from the first supply voltage.

1. A circuit for driving a first semiconductor switching element, comprising:
at least a first voltage supply circuit having a first oscillator; a first transformer; a first accumulation circuit for providing a first supply voltage; a driver circuit having input terminals for receiving the first supply voltage and having output terminals for providing a drive voltage for the first semiconductor switching element, configured to generate the drive voltage for the first semiconductor switching element at least from the first supply voltage and depending on a level of the first supply voltage; and a second voltage supply circuit having a second transformer and a second accumulation circuit for providing a second supply voltage, wherein the second supply voltage is fed to the driver circuit; and wherein the driver circuit is configured to make available the first supply voltage or a voltage dependent on the first supply voltage as drive voltage if the second supply voltage is less than a predetermined threshold value.
