PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel carbazole derivative that has an excellent carrier-transport property and is suitable to be used as a transport layer or a host material of a light-emitting device, and further to provide organic semiconductor material and light-emitting device material each using the carbazole derivative.SOLUTION: A carbazole derivative includes a carbazolyl group bonded to an aromatic hydrocarbon. In the carbazolyl group, either 2- or 3-position of carbazole is substituted by 4-position of a dibenzothiophene skeleton or a dibenzofuran skeleton. The aromatic hydrocarbon in which the number of carbon atoms is 14 to 70, includes a condensed ring constituted of three to seven rings.
