PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve sufficient water impermeability in a joint part by simple work when the respective outer edge parts of two multilayer film materials provided in parallel with each other are superposed on and joined to each other.SOLUTION: In an outer-layer processing apparatus for a multilayer film material, an object to be processed is a multilayer film material 2 including: a water impermeable film material layer 3; and a pair of nonwoven fabric layers 4 which are provided so as to sandwich the water impermeable film material layer 3 and are joined to the respective surfaces of the water impermeable film material layer 3. The outer-layer processing apparatus can process at least one nonwoven fabric layer 4 of the two nonwoven fabric layers 4 and 4 in an outer edge part 2a of the multilayer film material 2 by heating and pressing thereof. An outer-layer processing apparatus 1 includes: a heater 17 which is relatively moved in the longitudinal direction of the outer edge part 2a of the multilayer film material 2 and heats the one nonwoven fabric layer 4 during the movement; and a pair of pressure rollers 31 and 32 which are arranged ahead of the relative movement as viewed from the heater 17, and which sandwich and press the outer edge part 2a of the multilayer film material 2 between respective outer peripheral surfaces rotating around respective shaft centers 29 and 30 in directions opposite to each other.
