A developing device includes: a developer carrying member; a developing container; a pair of first seal members provided at end portions of the developer carrying member along a circumferential direction of the developer carrying member so as to contact the developer carrying member in a side opposite from a side where the developer carrying member opposes the image bearing member; and a pair of second seal members provided at the end portions of the developer carrying member adjacent to the first seal members in a side downstream of the developing position and which is upstream of the first seal members with respect to a rotational direction of the developer carrying member, wherein the second seal members contact a surface of the developer carrying member.

1. A developing device comprising:
a developer carrying member for carrying and feeding a developer to a developing position, opposing an image bearing member, where an electrostatic latent image formed on the image bearing member is to be developed; a developing container for rotatably supporting said developer carrying member and for accommodating the developer to be supplied to said developer carrying member; a pair of first seal members provided at end portions of said developer carrying member along a circumferential direction of said developer carrying member so as to contact said developer carrying member in a side opposite from a side where said developer carrying member opposes the image bearing member; and a pair of second seal members provided at the end portions of said developer carrying member adjacent to said first seal members in a side downstream of the developing position and which is upstream of said first seal members with respect to a rotational direction of said developer carrying member, wherein said second seal members contact a surface of said developer carrying member.
