PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord for tire reinforcement and a radial tire which the same is applied to.SOLUTION: The steel cord for tire reinforcement is a steel cord having a structure of two or more layers including a first layer core 1 and a second layer core 2 in which the first layer core 1 is a filament 1a having an elliptical or rectangle cross section. Thus it is possible to improve the production efficiency and the fatigue characteristic of the tire and to improve fuel consumption characteristics by the improvement of the rotational resistance of the tire.
