Systems and method for requesting audio content that is stored in a cloud network and accessed by many different audio devices where each of the audio devices may have an optimal type of audio encoding, format, and characteristic in addition to being located in different types of listening environment that are considered by a cloud audio server when preparing audio content for transmission to a requesting audio device.

1. A cloud access server for audio rendering accessed by an audio device, comprising:
a communication port; and a processor coupled to a communication port, that identifies original audio content in response to receipt of an audio content request at the communication port where the audio content request has associated with it a device profile and an environmental profile and directs the processing of the original audio content into processed audio content in response to attributes contained in both the device profile and the environmental profile after which the processor directs the transmission of the processed audio content to the audio device that originated the audio content request.
