　The present invention minimizes equipment investment for fault recovery design in a network for providing a virtual network to a user. A network design assisting apparatus is provided with: a substitute virtual network generation unit for generating a first network configuration in which a virtual network between any two external virtual nodes is substituted for a configuration for calculating a redundant path, said virtual network being substituted on the basis of the configuration of a physical network including a switch, and prescribed substitution rules; and a virtual network configuration modifying unit for generating a second network configuration for user presentation that includes the first network configuration.
