PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink for ink jet recording which suppresses occurrence of malfunctions, e.g. discharge bending and no discharge, even when an ink jet recording apparatus mounted with a line-system recording head is used and is excellent in intermittent discharge characteristics and dispersion stability.SOLUTION: An ink for ink jet recording comprises water, water-soluble compounds, a pigment and a (meth)acrylic ester-based copolymer which disperses the pigment and has an acid number of 100-160 mg KOH/g. Taking the content of the pigment as P mass% and the content of the copolymer as R mass%, relative to the total amount of the ink, the ink meets equation (1) 0.75≤[R/P]/[(R/P)]≤0.95, where (R/P)is the maximum value of R/P at which unadsorbed copolymer not adsorbed to the pigment is not present. |
