[Also in Division C3] Aniline (0À1-4 moles) and 2-chloroaniline (1 mole) are condensed with formaldehyde in presence of mineral acid, the mole ratios total amine: formaldehyde and mineral acid: total amine being 1À4-1À9: 1 and 0À5-2À0:1, respectively. The products appear to be mixtures of 4,4<SP>1</SP> - diaminodiphenylmethane, its 3-chloro and 3,3<SP>1</SP>-dichloro derivatives, and related triamines and higher polyamines, and are used as curing agents for polyurethanes (see Division C3).
