<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for aligning an optical fiber that is capable of aligning an optical fiber to a laser diode with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A method for aligning an optical fiber to a laser diode comprises: dividing an optical path of an optical fiber 20 into a first branch optical path 22 and a second branch optical path 24 to optically connect a light source 30 to the first branch optical path 22 and an optical detector 32 to the second branch optical path 24; irradiating an edge-emitting-type and gain waveguide-type laser diode 50 with alignment light having a wavelength longer than the wavelength of laser light emitted from the laser diode 50, from the light source 30 through the optical fiber 20; detecting the light amount of the alignment light that is reflected at the laser diode 50 and reaches the optical detector 32 through the optical fiber 20 and the second branch optical path 24; and, while relatively moving the laser diode 50 and the optical fiber 20, determining an alignment position of the optical fiber 20 to the laser diode 50 on the basis of the light amount of the alignment light detected by the optical detector 32.</p> |
