A method of continuously and automatically determining sticky levels in a process for producing recycled fibre pulp utilizing near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy in combination with one or more automated sheet former(s), which comprises the steps: (a) determining sticky levels for a series of samples using a standard laboratory analytical procedure, utilizing the results as reference values to establish one or more calibration model(s) from NIR spectroscopy, and storing the dataset(s) of the calibration model(s) on an electronic storage device; (b) automatically withdrawing a sample from at least one sampling point in the process line, transporting the sample through a sample line from the process line to at least one automated sheet former, forming a sheet from said sample, and drying said sheet; (c) transporting the dried sheet from step (b) to a measuring zone and recording a spectrum from the sheet in the near infrared region to obtain spectral data; (d) processing the spectral data obtained in step (c) on a computer utilizing at least one stored calibration model, and receiving for each calibration model as output a value of the sticky level in the process for producing recycled fibre pulp.
