摘要 An edge-orientated adaptive image interpolation method and a VLSI implementation device. A source image pixel point gradient amplitude and a gradient direction are calculated, edge information is acquired by comparing the gradient amplitude and a local adaptive threshold, and an edge direction is a direction vertical to the gradient direction; the edge direction is classified, filtering is performed by using the edge information, and an image is partitioned into a regular edge area and a non-edge area. Values are interpolated in the regular edge area in an edge direction, and image interpolation is performed according to classification of the edge information and by using an improved bicubic interpolation method, a diagonal bicubic interpolation method, and a diagonal bilinear interpolation method that are based on the local gradient information; and image interpolation is performed on the non-edge area by using an improved bicubic interpolation method based on the local gradient information. The device of the present invention comprises an edge information extraction module, an adaptive interpolation module, and a module for controlling synchronism between input line and field and scaled line and filed. The present invention can significantly improve an image interpolation effect under high-multiplying-power scaling, thereby facilitating achievement of an integrated circuit architecture.
