This invention provides a nonaqueous secondary battery that exhibits good quick-charge characteristics, charging/discharging cycle characteristics, and storage characteristics. Said nonaqueous secondary battery contains either a layered electrode body in which a positive electrode and a negative electrode are layered together with a separator interposed therebetween or a rolled-up electrode body containing a plurality of positive-electrode current-collecting tabs and a plurality of negative-electrode current-collecting tabs. The aforementioned positive electrode has a positive-electrode-mixture layer that contains a lithium-containing complex oxide that contains nickel, cobalt, and manganese. The density of said positive-electrode-mixture layer is at most 3.25 g/cm3. The abovementioned negative electrode has a negative-electrode-mixture layer that contains graphite. The density of said negative-electrode-mixture layer is at most 1.55 g/cm3. The battery contains a liquid electrolyte that contains a nonaqueous solvent comprising ethylene carbonate and ethyl methyl carbonate. Letting the total volume of said liquid electrolyte be 10, the volume of ethylene carbonate is between 2.5 and 3.5, inclusive; the volume of ethyl methyl carbonate is between 6.5 and 7.5, inclusive; and the sum of the volume of ethylene carbonate and the volume of ethyl methyl carbonate is at least 9.5. |
