Provided is a technique for selecting, in a mobile terminal having a plurality of antennas, an antenna suitable for wireless communication. The mobile terminal (1) comprises the plurality of antennas (121, 122) and a telephone communication speaker (119). The mobile terminal (1) further comprises a sensor that is placed in the vicinity of the telephone communication speaker (119) and that outputs a signal associated with the distance between the telephone communication speaker (119) and a user's head. When the mobile terminal (1) detects, according to the signal outputted from the sensor, that the distance between the mobile terminal (1) and the user's head is within a predetermined range, the mobile terminal (1) selects, as an antenna to be used for the wireless communication, that one (122) of the plurality of antennas (121, 122) the position of which is remote from the telephone communication speaker (119) and the feeding point of which is not present in the vicinity of a surface portion of the mobile terminal covered by a user's hand. When the mobile terminal (1) detects that the distance between the mobile terminal (1) and the user's head is not within the predetermined range, the mobile terminal (1) selects, according to how the user holds the mobile terminal (1) in his hand, an antenna to be used for the wireless communication. |
