The present invention relates to a charging processing method and a system. The method comprises: a policy and charging enforcement function (PCEF) receiving a rule switchover request message sent by a policy and charging rules function (PCRF) and updating an original policy and charging control (PCC) rule of a current user; and the PCEF sending a credit control request (CCR) message to an online charging system (OCS), wherein the CCR message carries a reporting reason identifier and a usage condition of a quota in an original tariff in the original PCC rule of the current user so that the OCS performs charging processing for the current user based on the reporting reason identifier and the usage condition of the quota. The present invention makes interaction signaling reduced by 50% and shortens an end-to-end delay between the PCEF and the OCS.
