PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel metal particle-supported catalyst and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The provided metal particle-supported catalyst includes: a fine uneven layer possessing, on the surface thereof as a fine protrusion structure where a plurality of fine protrusions is densely arranged, the average of distances of adjacent members of the fine protrusions is 1μm or less, and in a case where the fine protrusions are assumed to have been cut along a horizontal plane orthogonal to the depth direction thereof, the cross-sectional area occupant ratio of a material portion forming the fine protrusions within the horizontal cross section waxes continuously and progressively from tops of the fine protrusions toward greatest depths thereof; and metal particles having an average diameter smaller than the average of distances between the fine protrusions in a state where the metal particles are being supported on the surface of the fine protrusion structure.
