Higher utility is achieved for a machining system disposed so that work machines that include machine tools such as lathes form a single line, and configured so that a plurality of work machines perform sequential operations on one workpiece. A machining system, provided with a base (10) and a plurality of work machine modules (12) mounted on the base and arranged in an arrangement direction, is configured such that each of the plurality of work machine modules can be pulled out from the base along a trajectory extending in an intersecting direction that intersects the arrangement direction. According to such a machining system, the plurality of modules are easy to maintain because they are aligned so as to be capable of being pulled out. Also, the number of bases provided to the system can be reduced because the plurality of modules are arranged on a single base.
