PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical cell having a cell structure, capable of improving: use efficiency of reductive fuel gas when used as a fuel cell; power generation efficiency of the fuel cell; generation efficiency of hydrogen generated when used as an electrolytic cell; and electrolysis efficiency of the electrolytic cell.SOLUTION: In an electrochemical cell including an electrolyte membrane, are disposed a fuel electrode, an air electrode and a porous support, a sealing member for sealing a plurality of passages on one end side and a gas supplying/collecting member for supplying reductive fuel gas into the plurality of passages or collecting generated hydrogen gas on the another end side. In the porous support, a dense member is inserted into any of the plurality of passages so as to divide the plurality of passages into two regions in a width direction approximately orthogonal to a length direction. The reductive fuel gas or the hydrogen gas sequentially passes first and second regions of the plurality of passages demarcated by the dense member. |
