This organic light emitting device is provided with: a positive electrode; a wiring line that is arranged beside the positive electrode at a distance; a light emitting layer that is arranged above the positive electrode and contains an organic light emitting material; an intermediate layer that is arranged above both the light emitting layer and the wiring line; an organic functional layer that is arranged above both the light emitting layer and the wiring line, with the intermediate layer being interposed therebetween, and has electron transport properties or electron injection properties; and a negative electrode that is arranged above both the light emitting layer and the wiring line, with the organic functional layer being interposed therebetween. The intermediate layer contains a fluoride of Na that is selected from the group consisting of alkali metals and alkaline earth metals, and Ba that has a nature of breaking a bond between Na and fluorine in the fluoride of Na.
