摘要 Building upon the PROFINET standard or the Precision Transparent Clock Protocol, for example, in each network node it is checked whether there are noticeable synchronization deviations with respect to adjacent neighboring nodes or whether the network node, together with the neighboring nodes, exhibits a noticeable synchronization deviation with respect to a reference clock. In the former case, a frequency deviation of the network node is inferred. In the latter case, a frequency deviation of the reference clock is inferred. In this way, a large frequency deviation in the communication network can be immediately detected and localized. External disturbances that cause the frequency deviation can be traced back to a system fault or an intrusion into the communication network. The exact localization of the affected network node supports prompt determination and combating of the system fault or intrusion.
