A fluid-tight stopper for a container comprises an elastic bush 2, having two coaxial skirts 8, 9 depending from an annular flange 10 from which projects a cylindrical sleeve 14, and a cap 3 including a skirt 17 depending from a crown 16. The coaxial skirts 8, 9 may be slightly tapered and engage respectively outside and inside a neck 1 of the container. A spider comprising a central core 12 supported by radial arms 11 is connected to the lower end of the skirt 9, e.g. through a flange 13, thereby stressing the skirt 9 outwardly against the neck 1. The upper end of the sleeve 14 preferably carries a pouring lip 15. In the embodiment the cap 3 has an external sleeve 6 which has an outwardly extending bead 5 at its lower end. The bead 5 is engaged by the in-curled top of a strip 4 attached to the flange 10 of the bush 2, and the cap 3 is thereby retained in contact with the bush 2. Holes 7 spaced around the flange 10 permit the strip 4 to be torn off, allowing the cap 3 to be removed, and providing a tamper-proof seal. Suitable materials for the stopper include polyethylene for the elastic bush 2, and polystyrene for the rigid cap 3. |
