Provided is a high-quality and high-reliability ultraviolet light emitting device which prevents electric characteristic degradation due to a sealing resin caused by an ultraviolet light emitting operation. An ultraviolet light emitting device provided with an ultraviolet light emitting element (2) produced from a nitride semiconductor, and an ultraviolet light transmitting sealing resin (3) covering the ultraviolet light emitting element (2), wherein a specific portion (3a) that is in contact with pad electrodes (16, 17) of at least the ultraviolet light emitting element (2) within the sealing resin (3) is a first type of amorphous fluororesin, a terminal functional group of a polymer or a copolymer that constitutes the first type of amorphous fluororesin is a COOH group or a COOR group that is a reactive functional group having bondability to metal constituting the pad electrodes (16, 17), and the emission wavelength range of the ultraviolet light emitting element (2) is located on the long-wavelength side with respect to the long-wavelength end of the absorption wavelength range of the amorphous fluororesin. |
