摘要 <p>The purpose of the present invention is to provide an oxidation catalyst which can efficiently oxidize, with a reduction in the amount of an active species metal supported, environmental pollutants at a space velocity higher than a conventional space velocity at a low temperature in a gas that is to be treated and that contains a catalyst-poisoning substance such as sulfur oxide or water vapor. This oxidation catalyst comprises at least one transition element which is selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium and rhodium and which is supported on a carrier, wherein the surface area of micropores of 10nm or more in radius accounts for more than 49% of the total surface area of micropores of 2 to 100nm in radius.</p>
