An alkylcyanoaluminium compound is obtained in a process which comprises reacting a corresponding alkylaluminium compound of the formula RR1R11Al wherein R represents a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxy group, R1 represents a group which is the same as or different from the above R but falls within the same category as R, or represents a halogen or cyano group, R11 represents a group which is the same or different from the above R1 but falls within the same category as R1 or a hydrogen atom, with equivalent amount of a substance capable of releasing cyano ion represented by the formula MCN wherein M represents an organic radical, hydrogen atom or metal, and obtaining the said alkylcyanoaluminium compound of the formula RR1AlCN wherein R and R1 each represents the same meaning as above defined. |
