According to the present invention, a device for controlling the driving speed of a vehicle comprises: a location measuring part measuring the current location of the vehicle; a map information storing part storing map information; a road information extracting part extracting road information from the map information storing part with respect to the current location measured by the location measuring part; an economic speed calculating part calculating an economic speed using the road information extracted by the road information extracting part; a speed measuring part measuring the driving speed of the vehicle; and a speed controller controlling the driving speed so that the driving speed measured by the speed measuring part can follow the economic speed calculated by the economic speed calculating part.
