Disclosed is an apparatus to prevent coolant from standing in a hot rolling mill. The disclosed apparatus to prevent coolant from standing of a hot rolling mill comprises a wiper arranged between a rolling roll for a hot rolling mill and a cooling header to spray coolant toward the rolling roll to prevent coolant from being fallen into a strip. A plurality of suction holes are formed in a main body of the wiper, and a drainage hole connected with the suction hole is formed in at least one side of the main body. Moreover, a suction pump for forcibly discharging the coolant flowing in the suction hole and discharged through the drainage hole is connected through the medium of a suction tube with the drainage hole.
