The present invention relates to an energy storing apparatus and to a control method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the energy storing apparatus includes: a secondary battery which converts and stores AC power inputted from a power system into DC power; an inverter which converts the AC power inputted from the power system into the DC power when the power is stored in the secondary battery, converts the DC power into the AC power when the power stored in the secondary battery is supplied to a load, determines an operation mode based on the state of the system, and activates a controller based on the operation mode; and a power system connecting unit which supplies the power to a system by converting the DC power stored in the secondary battery into the AC power and synchronizing the power system, and interrupts the power supply when the system operates abnormally. |
