<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack and pinion type steering gear suppressing decrease or the like of durability caused by deflection of a steering rack without accompanying deterioration of steering feeling, rise of manufacturing costs, or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The steering rack 11 is also loosely fit in a right end piece 34, but a gap between the steering rack 11 and the right end piece 34 is different in a rack guide side and a pinion side. The right end piece 34 has a circular inner circumferential surface 51, but a center Oe of the inner circumferential surface 51 is offset by a predetermined amount a to the front with respect to an axis Or of the steering rack 11.
