[Also in Divisions B3 and E1] A method of adhesively securing fittings to motor vehicles comprises placing a resistance wire (1), tape or mesh, sheathed with a thermoplastic adhesive (2), between the fitting (3) and vehicle (4) and melting the adhesive by passing a current through the wire, tape or mesh. Decorative or rubbing strips, stiffening plates, mirrors, lamps or name plates may be fixed to a vehicle, and the sheathed wire being positioned in a groove in the part to be fixed before this is applied to the vehicle. The sheath (2) may be of circular, triangular or rectangular crosssection, and the wire (1) may be of coppernickel alloy.</p> |
