A method to replace and handle a high voltage conductor in a power transmission system without causing a power disruption comprises selecting a section of a conductor located between a first dead end and a second dead end; and bypassing said selected section of conductor located between said first and second dead ends by transferring a power load from a first non-selected section of said conductor to a second conductor connected to the first non-selected section of the conductor at or before the first dead end and to a second non-selected section of the conductor at or after said second dead end.
