An electromechanical powered surgical instrument (100) includes a handle assembly (102) and a control assembly (400). The handle assembly is configured to engage an end effector (300) to manipulate a tool assembly (304) thereof. The control assembly (400) is positioned on the handle assembly and includes a plurality of buttons (410-418). Each of the plurality of buttons (410-418) is associated with a function of the end effector. Each of the plurality of buttons (410-418) is also associated with a light source. The light source is configured to selectively backlight the associated button.
