1,212,465. Two-part couplings. BUNKERRAMO CORP. 19 March, 1969 [29 March, 1968], No. 14411/69. Heading H2E. Electric cable connectors are manufactured from a printed circuit board 1 with parallel conducting paths 3 on its underside 2 and perforated by holes 4 in a grid pattern so that each path 3 'contains a column of holes. 'Soldering pins 7a of a connector strip 7 are passed through a row of holes so that the strip 7 lies at right angles to the conducting paths 3 but on the top of the board, the pins 7a being joined to pin or socket contacts 7b, 7c in the strip. Bared wire ends 8a of multi-core cables 8 are also passed from the top through holes adjacent to the soldering pins 7a and both wire ends and pins are soldered to their respective paths 3 by splash bath, wave, or dip soldering. A single board may be divided by slots 6 into segments 5 and then cut down the line A-B to form a number of connectors attached to cables 8. A connector may be fitted with slotted end pieces (10) one of which forms a cable clamp, and may be inserted into a split insulating sleeve ( 15) (Fig. 3, not shown) or be rotatably suspended in bearing blocks or on pivots (Figs. 4-7, not shown). |
