A sports watch may have positioning sensors e.g. GPS, compass or indoor positioning means and movement sensors e.g. an accelerometer, gyroscope, shock, vibration sensor etc. It may also wirelessly communicate with heart rate, cycle speed, cadence, wind speed sensors or the like. The watch also wirelessly communicates with a network directly or via an application on a smart phone. The invention provides for automatically creating events by comparing data from smart watches and determining whether a common context occurs, e.g. two watches are in the same location and are in the same sport mode such as running, sailing, cycling etc. Users may be prompted to accept creation of the event or join the event. User profiles may be associated with the watches and users may be invited to join the events. Alerts may be sent to the users if a member of the event is getting left behind or their heart rate gets too high. A database may hold user profiles and categorise users according to age, gender, friendship group etc. |
