<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crushing and sorting apparatus, hardly causing a trouble even if matter to be treated with relatively large moisture content is crushed and sorted. <P>SOLUTION: The crushing and sorting apparatus 1 includes a drive shaft 3, four rotary shafts 4 supported on the outer peripheral side of the drive shaft 3 and a plurality of the hammers 5 supported on the respective rotary shafts 4 in a freely revolvable manner. In the crushing part 6, the thrown-in matter to be treated is crushed by the hammers 5 and, in a crushing and sorting part 7, the treated matter is further crushed by the hammers 5 and the centrifugal force toward a plate screen 9 is applied to the crushed matter to be treated. The moisture-containing matter to be treated transmitted through the plate screen 9 is discharged by a screw conveyor 10 through a hopper 24. The matter to be treated not transmitted through the plate screen 9 to remain is crushed by the hammers 5 in a crushing discharge part 8 to be discharged from a discharge port 2b by the wind force formed by the hammers 5.
