<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion current detecting and processing device for an internal combustion engine, capable of eliminating an error of processing due to an influence of the noise. <P>SOLUTION: When a signal processing routine R1 is started, a control device ECU, firstly, sets a noise detection section W1 and an analysis object section W2 appropriately, and thereafter, detects ion current detection signal V0 at every AD timing, and stores the detected information in a memory circuit (S01). Thereafter, regular noise detection signals about the noise detection section W1 are cumulatively computed (S02), and a cumulation value of the ion current detection signal about the analysis object section W2 is computed to compute an area value of an ion current waveform (S03).
