[Also in Division G3] A combined pressure-regulator and shut-off valve comprises an inlet 12 and an outlet 14 with a valve seat 10a, a diaphragm 16 carrying a valve member 20 to co-operate with the seat, the valve member side of the diaphragm being exposed to inlet pressure, and a spring 28 urging the member 20 towards the seat and mounted off-centre with respect to the axis of the seat so that when the valve is opened the member 20 is tilted off its seat. The diaphragm 10 encloses a chamber 24, and inlet pressure is passed through an orifice 26 to the chamber and an adjustable diaphragm relief valve 46 controls the pressure in the chamber 24 in response to pressure in a chamber 56 connected to the outlet 14 by a duct 58. A solenoid 34 is mounted on top of the valve and has a plunger 38, which, when the solenoid is de-energized, abuts a clamping screw 40 to hold the valve 20 closed. A lever 62 is pivoted at one end 62a and embraces a reduced portion 38a of the plunger, at the other end. When the solenoid is energized, plunger 38 is lifted, Fig. 2 (not shown), to free the valve 20, and lever 62 is rotated to allow a face 62c to free a closure member 50a of the valve 46. Movement of the member 20 is then controlled by the pressure in the chamber 24 which is governed by the relief valve 46. In Fig. 4 (not shown), the valve 46 is connected with a passage (68) and closure (76) in the plunger 38 by a flexible conduit (72).</p> |
