<p>1,155,002. Slitting apparatus. CHAMBON Ltd. 1 May, 1967 [29 April, 1966], No. 18945/66. Heading B4B. Apparatus for slitting flexible web material such as paper or cardboard unwound from a roll 2 and rewound on narrower rolls 5,6 comprises a spring-loaded knife 8 pivotally mounted, at 12, on the framework 4 so as to bear tangentially on the web and slit it into narrower widths. The knife holder 10 carries a rack engaged by a pinion 14 which is rotated to progressively move the cutting edge 9 of the knife longitudinally. In a modification, the knife is in the form of a strip (15), Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), unwound from a coil (16) which is supported at the upper end of an arm (17) pivotally mounted, at (12), on the framework (4). The strip (15) is fed through a slot in the arm (17) by a pair of rollers (18, 19) one, 19, of which is carried by a shaft (20) on which is mounted a worm-wheel (21) driven by a wormgear (22) concentric with the pivot .(12) to progressively move the cutting edge of the knife longitudinally.</p> |
