In the present invention, provided is a secondary battery, including an electrode assembly which has a positive and a negative electrode and a separation membrane; an electrolyte; and a battery case which is allowed to maintain the sealing state of the electrode assembly and the electrolyte without any changes of forms when pressure is increased by the release of gas wherein the secondary battery including the battery case can maintain its performance when high voltage active materials are used.
