A method of manufacturing a profiled laminated sheet having a covering surface of a cured thermosetting synthetic resin comprises forming an assembly by superposing on one another a plurality of sheets including an outer sheet of cellulose fibrous material, impregnated and covered with a thermosetting synthetic resin, and subjecting the plurality of sheets to pressure under heat and by means of a press plate 3 at each side of the plurality of sheets, and is characterized in that a non-planar sheet 5 of easily deformable metal material formed with a non-planar patterning is secured to at least one press plate 3 by means of a heatresistant putty, said sheet of metal material with the heat-resistant putty and the press plate being resistant to deformation at the applied press forces and press temperatures. As described, the sheet 5 is of aluminium and the laminated sheet comprises at least one upper foil of cellulose fibrous material impregnated and coated with melamine resin and a lower stack of Kraft paper sheets impregnated with phenolformaldehyde solution. The lower stack may be replaced by hardboard or wood chip board. The sheet 5 may be polished or dull over part or all of its surface and may have shapes other than that shown. |
