摘要 1,132,396. Measuring position. SOC. D'ELECTRONIQUE ET D'AUTOMATISME. 15 April, 1966 [26 April, 1965; 30 March, 1966], No. 16584/66. Heading G4H. [Also in Division H4] The cartesian co-ordinates of a pointer on a panel are calculated by determining the time at which the light from light sources scanning the surface of the panel are cut off from photoelectric receivers, the co-ordinates of the pointer being fed to a computer. The panel may be a plate over the screen of a cathode-ray tube. In one embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), in which the light sources shine through slits (13, 15) in two reciprocating bands (12, 14) the light is reflected by mirrors (34, 35) to photo receivers (6, 8) the outputs from which control gates (40, 41) so that when the opaque pointer (10) lies between one of the slits and light sources one of the gates is momentarily enabled to pass a signal representing the position of the slit from one of the encoders (38, 39) driven in concommitance with the bands (12, 14). In a further embodiment (Fig. 1) clock pulses from a source 28 are fed to counters 25, 125 when the bands 12, 14 start their cycle. When no light is reflected by one of the mirrors 4, 5 on to one of the photo-cells 6, 7, a bi-stable device 21 or 121 changes its state to close one of the gates 24 or 124 and so stop the count of pulses in one of the counters 25, 125. Similarly, when the source of light is cut off from the second photo receiver the second counter receives no further clock pulses. The count in the counters then represents the X and Y co-ordinates of the opaque pointer 10. When the bi-stable devices 21, 121 are re-set (whilst the slits in the bands are returning to their original position) gates 26, 126 are enabled to read the X and Y co-ordinates from the counters into the computer L. The bands 12, 13 may be replaced by slit drums (56, 58, Fig. 4, not shown), the photo-cells being surrounded by rotating slit drums (16, 18). Alternatively, the sources of light (which in the embodiment of Fig. 4 may be laser sources) and the mirrors may be replaced by banks of parallel sources sequentially energized, the photo-cells 6 and 7 being replaced by banks of photo-electric receivers which are sequentially activated by the light from the light sources. If the panel is larger than the cathode-ray tube screen a " keyboard " (203, Fig. 5, not shown), may be included on the panel, so that when the pointer is applied to one of the squares of the keyboard, the co-ordinates fed to the computer are recognized as an instruction or control signal.
